What we cover

Our coverage is organized around four areas: Data Insights, Admissions Trends, Market Briefs and For Institutions. The primary geographic focus is the United States and Canada, with particular attention to how Chinese students and families respond to changing education markets.

Editorial approach

We begin with public data and clearly identified sources. We distinguish applications, visas, study permits, enrollment and post-study participation because these measures describe different stages of student mobility.

Our analysis separates observed change from interpretation. Where the evidence does not support a causal conclusion, we state the limitation rather than assign the trend to one policy or event.

Howdy Research Desk produces data-led analysis of North American international education. It is an editorial identity for this publication, not a claim of external peer review or a large newsroom.

Founder perspective

The founder of HOWDYGROUP GLOBAL CONSULTING LLC earned a master's degree from Texas A&M University in 2013 and has worked in study-abroad counseling for more than a decade. The practice has focused primarily on master's applications and the United States and Canada, while also covering undergraduate and doctoral study and other major destinations. This experience informs the questions we examine, but practitioner observation is identified separately from public data and representative research.

Corrections and updates

Each data article includes a source list and review date. Material errors will be corrected, and time-sensitive analyses will be reviewed when new official data become available.
